Empowering Returned Migrants Through Strategic Partnership

At the Giving Is Healing Foundation (GIHF), protecting vulnerable populations, especially migrants in Nigeria, is at the core of our mission. In line with this commitment, we partnered with International Organization for Migration (IOM) Nigeria for a four-day training aimed at returned migrants. The training, facilitated by IOM, focused on capacity building and skills development, equipping participants to lead community driven initiatives on safe migration and reintegration while applying principles of accountability.

Mrs Fatimah Adeyemi, a staff member of IOM, emphasized the importance of returned migrants gaining practical skills to support their communities and promote safe migration practices. Mr Barry Agara from IOM Nigeria highlighted the role of accountability and community leadership in ensuring that returned migrants can successfully reintegrate and make meaningful contributions.

Mrs Opeyemi Favour, who represented GIHF, coordinated the returned migrants and ensured smooth engagement throughout the training. She stated that empowering returned migrants to lead local initiatives not only strengthens communities but also fosters resilience, dignity, and long-term independence.

By combining GIHF’s grassroots experience with IOM Nigeria’s expertise, this collaboration is creating resilient communities, accountable leadership, and sustainable pathways for returned migrants to rebuild their lives with hope and purpose.
