Giving Is Healing Foundation at the CSOnetMADE Lagos Chapter First Meeting of the Year

The Giving Is Healing Foundation (GIHF) attended the first meeting of the year of the Civil Society Network on Migration and Development (CSOnetMADE), Lagos Chapter, held in Lagos State. The meeting brought together civil society organizations working on migration and development to review priorities for the year and strengthen advocacy efforts at both state and national levels.

Discussions during the meeting focused on migration policies, safe and orderly migration, migrant protection, and sustainable reintegration for returnees. Participants examined the realities and challenges faced by migrants at different stages of the migration cycle, including risks during migration, protection gaps, and the difficulties of reintegration. Particular attention was given to the protection of migrants, especially women, children, and other vulnerable groups, emphasizing rights-based and people-centered approaches that promote dignity and safety.

The importance of reintegration was also highlighted, with discussions around economic empowerment, psychosocial support, and community-based interventions that support returnees in rebuilding their lives and achieving long-term social inclusion. These conversations underscored the need for sustainable solutions that address both immediate and long-term reintegration needs.

As a strong and active member of the CSOnetMADE Lagos Chapter, GIHF actively contributed to the discussions, sharing insights from its grassroots programs, advocacy initiatives, and direct engagement with migrants and host communities. The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safe migration, preventing human trafficking, and supporting migrants and returnees through education, psychosocial support, and continuous community engagement.

GIHF remains committed to advancing the objectives of CSOnetMADE and to playing an active role within the network to influence policy, amplify migrant voices, and support migration and development initiatives that ensure no one is left behind.
