GIHF Leads Powerful Awareness Session on Child Trafficking and Irregular Migration
As part of our unwavering commitment to eradicate human trafficking and promote safe migration, the Giving Is Healing Foundation proudly engaged the Girls Guild under the Anglican Diocese of Lagos during their four-day annual camping exercise.
This strategic connection was made possible by our dedicated Welfare Officer, Oyinkansola Oriola, whose strong relationship with the Anglican community secured the platform for GIHF to speak to dozens of young girls and women. Speaking on her involvement, Oyinkansola said:
“For me, this was more than an event — it was an opportunity to bring vital information to young women who might otherwise be unaware of the risks surrounding them. Knowledge is a shield, and every girl deserves to be equipped with it.”
Representing GIHF as a guest speaker, our Program Manager, Gbolahan Ayediran, delivered a hard-hitting and eye-opening session on Child Trafficking and Irregular Migration. He unpacked how traffickers identify, lure, and control their victims, the devastating personal and societal consequences of human trafficking, and the dangers of unsafe migration routes. He also encouraged participants to take ownership of the fight against exploitation by becoming community advocates for safe migration.
Speaking after his presentation, Gbolahan Ayediran emphasized:
“Every young person must understand that traffickers are not strangers in the shadows — they are often familiar faces with hidden agendas. The more we expose their tactics and equip our youth with the right information, the fewer lives will be lost to exploitation. Awareness is not optional; it is a lifeline.”
To deepen the impact of the discussion, participants watched powerful documentaries from BBC News and DW News, providing real-life perspectives that moved many to tears and sparked thoughtful, solution-driven conversations. GIHF also distributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) flyers to ensure the lessons would continue to spread beyond the event.
At GIHF, we believe awareness is a weapon, and education is a shield. By using every available platform, we are raising an informed and empowered generation — a generation determined to dismantle the systems of exploitation and protect the vulnerable at all costs.
